Ang Brownies Bow

My Grandma passed away about 12 hours ago, and though it has been a while since I last saw her, (she live in the Us and I'm here in the Phils) I love her so much and she will be greatly missed. Who wouldn't? when we were kids she used to have a weekly session with us, activities which includes, cutting our toe nails and finger nails, and cleaning our ears. Yes it is a grooming session that we fondly awaits because it was like general cleaning for us a nd a little bonding time with her. I can still remember how we gather around her while we wait for our turn.
She was our Christmas spirit every Christmas season, she gets us all excited for Christmas, she would let us be involve in any preparation needed. I can still picture her making her signatured chocolate drink from a "Tableria".
There are lots of memories of my Lola, lots of lessons learned from her, but there is one story I always remember. When I had my 18th birthday, it was the first time she visited Philippines after nine years, I asked her to be part of my 18 Significant gifts, she told a little anectode about me.
She said, when I was a kid and asked if who is my Lola's favorite among the then, 4 grandchildren, I would answer, "Kaming Lahat po." ( All of us), Kasi Po, lahat kami inuuwian nya ng brownies" (because she gives us all brownies) then she gave out brownies not just for me but to the her other grandchildren, reliving the little anecdote and giving more meaning to my birthday.
My Lola is the greatest, she will surely be missed by everbody, her thoughtfulness and kindness will forever be remembered.

  1. the worst thing that an OFW can experience would be to get a call in the early hours of the morning and find out that someone dear to her is ill, dying or has passed away. then the guilt strikes, im not there for her in her dying days! but then, as i sat down, thought and reminisced....i realized that you were right.... the greatest memories we have of lola perla where those of our childhood. she is the greatest....i love her so much, and forever will.

The Reading Challenge

At the start of the year there were two reading challenges I committed myself to The Goodreads Reading Challenge where you will decide how many books you can read for the year. The other one I got from my cousin but upon searching in Google it's a Popsugar Reading Challenge.  I must have underestimated my annual calendar because I challenged my self to red 50 books in Goodreads. I thought "50 books? Oh that's nothing, I have all the time in the world." And guess what? It's mid of November and here's my reading challenge. Apparently I didn't plan on being too busy during mid year but I'm not complaining I just didn't expect it to be like that. Still, I'm happy to I have read 25 books so far. And these are mostly YA books. What's with YA anyway? Am I old to be reading it? But that's another blog entry I suppose. I am happy to discover new authors that I will sure follow (Sarah Haas, Cassandra Rose Clarke) and the likes. With these 2...

How To Be Interesting So That Other Can Envy and Notice You

My whole 32 years of existence, ok, minus the toddler years where I don’t really care; I want to be wanted, desirable, likable and according to Google, to achieve this you must be interesting and as part of my research that’s why  I came across this book. I hunted for this book in the hope that I can get tips so I can be interesting. In the cover it says:   Rule # 1. One must be attractive .  – If you are such a good friend or sister you will tell your mates that its personality that wins. I agree, but for the others to notice you, you must be attractive or else they will not make that second look or  make an effort to get to know you thus you are not given the chance to showcase your great personality. So, yes, a nod to this rule #1. Rule #2. One must be friends with other attractive people – Ever heard of the saying “Tell me who your friends are and I tell you who you are”? Now that you’re attractive do not stop there and make friends ...

My not so dead series

I started reading the series through a co-worker who can't seem to put the book down because of her common traits with the heroine. They both love shoes, and because she sensed that I love books and i love a good laugh she recommended me the Undead series by Mary Janice Davidso n and next thing I know I am collecting the books myself. This is my first Vampire series book. Since I knew that my guilty pleasure is reading books and could not resist exiting a bookstore without a book on hand I made a book list which keeps getting longer, so one of things listed there are books number 7 and 8 of the Undead series. I recently bought book # 7 Undead and Unworthy which has a new cover (if you are reading the US cover)and I'm really glad MJ Davidson wrote a disclaimer to its readers. I noticed that the book became more adult, more cursing from the characters and more gory than the previous books. Another more are names of designer shoes who are very much in season (very good update for...
