Book Series

Harry Potter started all these fuzz... These days I check out books by making sure they are not part of a 5-7 book series, because once you start you can't stop. Sometimes I feel like buying the book not because I like it but because I have to, because it makes the other part, lonely and I myself feels incomplete. I'm sure the marketer, publisher will be very happy to know this because their tactics worked on me. As word of mouth travels faster than a fax machine, I started reading "Twilight" as the first book of the series and later on found myself waiting for the bookstore to open and buy the fourth and final installment "Breaking Dawn". As the Vampire fever pitched I saw the cover of "Fallen" as a billboard near my office then jumped in excitement as I learned "Crescendo is out already. I watched "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" first and thought it would be nice to read it, thu

Scary Books

When I was a kid, R.L. Stein was King of Spooky book among us. Since it is Halloween I thought of looking for a scary book in my small collection and realized I didn't have any. Except fro some Vampire books which of course in this era does not fall under the horror category. So, I'm thinking of getting a good scary book, any suggestion? And don't tell me Stephen King because I might be tempted to just wait for the movie, though we know that always, book is better. any suggestion for this?

Things I Wanna Do

There are lots of things I wanna do, and I am hopeful that I am able to do it in the next months and years. Inspired by the book "Eat Pray Love", I told myself that I will be enrolling in the so much delayed Spanish class I wanted to take since back in my College years. (Way overdue right?). I do not know what I will do with it but heck, why do I need to think what I will do with it, It'll come handy someday. I want to live alone, like my own, place, my own rules, my own choice of visitors. (For readers from another culture, in the Philippines it is not unusual that a mid twenty woman is still living in their parent's house, before they were only allowed to leave their parent's house when they have their own family already, or once she get married). So I thought of saving for this sanctuary I am longing to have. I want to eat in a fancy restaurant, like authentic stakes or food on the menu you can't even pronounce and just point the picture to the attendant ta

Weird of the weird

As you know, reading is the thing I love most and I can say things I know, like bits of trivia that I suddenly blurt out comes from the things I read, so there's a big chance that I dreamed of them as well. You know I'd like to dream about the handsome leading man in my Chic-lit books, or be the witty heroine from the magical world I once in a while read. But what are the odds of dreaming about a vampire. Nope. Not Edward Cullen but, traditional vampire, the blood sucking cruel creature we know. From my dream, he chased me, someone I know became a vampire and I really look succulent in his eyes so he attacked me and pin me down to suck the blood out of me,but not in the neck and looks sexy just like in the movies, no, he sucked my blood through my stomach, and I wonder if Vampire ever get High blood pressure, there were lots of fats from my belly. If you think that's th e weirdest of things, the next day I dreamt of a chimaera, a mythical creature who has a lion's head,

Book Quote

Everytime I read a book and found something that I can relate to I scribble them on my notebook. I didn't realize that I have been doing this for years and saw the quotes I've written so I compiled them in one notebook and thought of sharing some of my favorite quote. "There has never been a time that reading is not my greatest joy" - Margaret Lea "The Thirteenth Tale" I can totally agree with that. "I am just an ordinary kid who loves reading books and listen to good music and didn't stand out in any way" - Watanabe "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami Most of the time I feel the same way, just an ordinary girl whose everyday never pass without having to read a few pages from the book she bought at the second hand store.

The Concubine's Tattoo

It's bee a while since I last wrote a review for the book I read, well it's not really a review, probably my insights and though would that be the same? Anyway, I have not been on the computer lately. You see I share PC with my Mom and yes I have got to blame Facebook application for the times I could not let my Ma let me use the computer to write a blog to post on my twitter account or do my online banking. So now early morning back from work I am blogging about the book I just finished reading and I must say, the author just became one of my favorite. I got the book by jokingly asking my friend to buy the book for me, because at that time when we were in the bookstore I was eying to buy another book and I don't have the extra money to buy the book and it really look promising so when I asked her she did not have any second thoughts and bought me the book (thanks Joyce). Boy, was I glad she bought the book because once I began reading the book I can't hardly put it

Chuck can sing

I can jump when I read that Chuck will be renewed for season 4, only I was reading this in my office, so ssssh about it. As I previously wrote in my blog, I like the series for its comical relief, brilliant cast and a storyline worth waiting and watching for. Aside from being charming , funny and did I say handsome? Did you know the star of the TV Series "Chuck, Zachary Levi can sing. He collaborated a song with Katherine Mcphee the song titled "Terrified" written by American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi. Nice song by the way. Really nice melody and the blending is superb. When I first heard the song and heard his voice, I was just literally melting in my seat, Zac if you ever read this, you have nice voice that can pierce through our heart it was just magical, as if everything just got softened and you just want to be in love right then and there. Ok that was way too much description for his voice, it was really amazing, so glad we heard you sing, you should do it on th

Blue Blood Continues

Here's a little something from the Fifth installment of Blue Blood series. Even before the Vampire Literature began, and even before Twilight became a hit, most of my books are about vampire and their forbidden love affair with humans, the Blue Blood series became part of my collection, plus the fact the author Melissa De la Cru z is a Filipina. Just click on the link for the exclusive feature of Entertainment Weekly and a short interview of the author. Malate at Night

The book is an HIV/AIDS awareness/ prevention in a gay's perspective. Other than that its a reach out to understand gay relationship that they feel what "normal" relationship feels. Read the book because a lot of my friends are gay and I don't want to be left out with the stories they are sharing regarding the book but I was not sorry to read it, it was informative and educational but highly for adults only. I highly doubt the Nuns will allow you to read it

From Bbq to Dad: Fire Me Up!

I am craving for Barbecue for days now, and I have been dying to try my own recipe, and so I will today. Every Sunday my Mom prepares an ala fiesta food for us, it's like your guilt free day for all those who are dieting. I was sharing this with my boyfriend and asked if I can grill the barbecue, I laughed at him, maybe because he hasn't seen me grilling. So I told him, If there is something I am good at not just devouring a book its grilling food, I do not know why but grilling is like talent for me, probably because I love eating and I have my way of how it is done. Or maybe I grew up so much around my Dad and inherited his love for fire. I can remember how easily he can flamed the coals for our barbecue or how log can catch up fire easily when we're cooking outside. Maybe if I will try as well I can make long flame candles that last for years. He used to make candles out of the denture's wax from his patients model denture. Yucky as it sound, but those candl

What book can do to me

I don't know if any of you also experiences this, but I just would like to share how my mood is greatly affected every time I read a book. Just a few hours ago I read Dear John by Nicholas Spark because I was not satisfied with the movie's ending so I have to read it again and refresh my mind, though I was happy picturing Channing Tatum, my heart sank reading the last part of the book. I was sad not in a lonely kind of way but, sad because, it is something you know you have but you can't have, the irony of life. So I sat quietly on my station taking every call I can, trying to divert what I was truly feeling. Just days ago, I read Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsela and all day I was hoping that my life is as adventurous as she is, no not hunted by ghost, but probably experience the gray area of getting to know someone, not knowing how they really feel about you but you know they are special, more than friends less than lover kind of thing. And everytime I notice that my book i

My January books

These are the books I purchased this January. And I'm happy I enjoyed most of them, two I haven't read yet, so I will let you know about the rest if I enjoyed it. What do you think of my book choices?

Reading Machine

I started Meg Cabot's "Avalon High" at around 8 in the evening because I could not sleep anymore and just waiting for my time to get ready for work. I told myself that I won't bring the book with me to work because well my copy is quite heavy but ofcourse after an hour I decided to bring it because I could not wait to get home and go back to reading. All my seatmate were shocked because they witnessed how I devoured the book because not even half of my shift I finished the book. I got a comment from my co-worker that when I am reading it seems I'm in a different world because I was not talking nor listening to any office talks going around. My seatmate said"Whoa, aren't you a reading machine?" he said, I laughed because then I realized I am very near the end of the book. I just would like to say, "Ms. Cabot, I am a big fan, officially" . I like the writing style, how it makes me picture the characters and even hearing myself saying their

Meg Cabot follower

When we read and we usually like the story of the book, what we do is take note of the author and make sure to read another novel of his/her. Or from word of mouth we heard that she writes good story that will entertain you and make you want to turn the page. That's what happened to me, I was not a Meg Cabot fan, though I love Princess Diaries, but my weekly trip to bookstore gave me an opportunity to pick up one of her book. "She went all the way" I picked it up from the 2nd hand bookstore because I thought that from the rest of the book she was the most know author and I badly need a book to read. It was a light read and I liked it, I was not looking for something "Da Vinci Code" type, just a light read that would make my mind wonder and dream and will take me to the book. The story is not out of the ordinary actually it was predictable but kudos to Ms. Cabot because though the story ordinary she was still able to make the readers crave more and devoured the

books in line

Last week these books were on my to read book, and 5 days later, they're shelved now and I will need another trip to the bookstore for another piles of books to read. And so, I am reviewing my list again and prioritizing the books iI wanted to read first, because I am sure once I found all of them, I'll be confuse and might end up buying all of them. No, I can't there are 53 books on my list, currently, oohh 54 now.

Fool in Every Sense

When I saw this on the book sale stand I didn't think twice and grabbed it along with two other books and purchased it. Since I was a kid I am fascinated with history and I am thrilled to get a glimpse of England's past and to have a slight idea of how crazy it is in The Royal Court. For me, the Queen's Fool gave its readers the third side of the coin, it is like bird's eye view from Hannah, the main protagonist giving the reader broader view of the situation. I like the characters that was put together by Ms. Gregory, they compensate each other and everyone has their key part. Even the supporting characters in the book had roles to play not just a bystander who happens to be there or just a passing stranger. Fool I am in every sense to even thought of stopping to read the book at the beginning because of the slow pace, but towards middle of the story where we begin to see Hannah struggle being a fool, a daughter and a duty of being a good wife. The story reminds me of
