Kokology

kokology - [Japanese, kokoro, mind, spirit, feeling + Greek - logia , the study of] 1. A series of psycholigical games designed to uncover emotional and behavioral traits of players. 2. A popular term for the interpretation of the hidden meanings of human behavior and situational responses. From Kokology 2 I can't believe have not blogged about Kokology before. Anyway. There was a time in my life, maybe some of you did too, that I was confuse and I just wanted to find myself. I didn't know what I want, I didn't have plans for the future. Nothing, nada. Simply because I failed no.1 question. What do I want? To find out what I want I needed to know who am I. There are times that we enjoy people telling us what they think of us, because we didn't know we possess that kind of trait they were telling us about. As one Fishisms goes " you're not who you are. You're only what other people think of you." I had a one year journey in finding myself, in order t

Bring Back what once was mine

From the incantation song of the movie "Tangled", I cant help but sing the title when I found my book. By the River Piedra I sat down and Wept, the first words from the book of the same title. No matter how long it has been I will never forget the book. My favorite love quote is there. "But love is much like a dam: if you allow a tiny crack to form through which a trickle of water can pass, that trickle will quickly bring down the whole structure, and soon no one will be able to control the force of the current" That's why when we feel that little butterflies in our stomach most of us tried to resist it, deny it because if we allow a tiny portion of that feeling to affect us, soon enough it will consume us. I didn't put name on the book, the reason I knew it was mine because, most of the quotes were in a faint pencil underline. I read the first few pages and read the first quote underlined. It was like fire traveling from my feet up, until my cheeks are al

32nd Manila International Book Fair

If you're an avid book reader like me and most of my friends I am sure if there's a book sale or book fair you will be doing anything just to go there and get a glimpse even if it means you're not going to sleep yet. A month ago I knew that there will be a book sale thanks to my friend who will have their booth there. I made a note on my planner, whatever happens I will go with the hopes of finding some of the books that is on my list. Sadly since I went there Saturday and it started Wednesday, some of the books I want were out of stock already, but I made sure that Although it says 32nd Manila International Book Fair, I only started going to the book fair last year, because it was only last year that I was using my internet or more informative ways, like following blogs, using twitter and tumblr for informations re. sale or any useful tips, not just using my internet for games in facebook or cyber stalking. I found more books last year, probably the friend I went with last

The Son of Neptune

I loved Percy Jackson from the moment I watched it until the last page of The Last Olympian so it is no surprise that I patiently awaits another book that will have Percy Jackson in it. I read the first book The Lost Hero but quite disappointed that Percy is missing, that's why I'm excited with the second book which most probably star Percy, well who could be Neptune's Son right? probably Tyson? Love the cover too. Will be available on October 4, 2011 To read the first chapter click here

The Power of Six

I watched “I Am Number Four”, first before reading the book, and I have to thank my cousins for insisting that we watched the movie because of Alex Rider, Alex Pettyfer rather. I enjoyed the movie and thought of reading the book. Actually I didn’t plan to read the book, it was just there in front of me on my desk and coincidentally I wasn’t reading any book at that time. Just reading few pages of the book, I found myself hooked and could not close the book and sleep. So when a voucher from this bookstore was delivered to my house I immediately made a trip to the bookstore with no book title in mind. Thankfully “Power Of Six” is already out, I didn’t think twice, I grabbed the book and paid it with the voucher. I could not put the book down, it was like a movie inside the book, always putting me at the edge of my seat, devouring each page. I have lots of anticipation with each page, almost reading as if the letters are just passing by my eyes and could not wait to turn another page

Timeless Kiss

For the first day of August I chose to blog this book, well not really chose because it is way overdue already, finished reading it some time ago, but because of hectic schedule and sudden shift of my time, I wasn’t able to write about it. I came across this book because of Beastly, I watched the film first because (ok fine,I’ll admit it, I’m a Hudgens fan, what? What’s wrong with that?) then a friend of mine told me to read the Beastly book, so I did, but that will be another blog entry (hopefully). Just from the title I knew it was Sleeping Beauty’s story. “A Kiss in Time” who wouldn’t guess that? But I liked the fact that Alex Finn rewrote these classic fairy tales relived it in the modern times, how else are we going to relate to this? What I didn’t anticipate is our young heroine’s bratty character, well if you’re beautiful and a princess you couldn’t help but be that, besides nobody’s perfect. On the other hand our young lad in the story is different from the knight in shinin

Azkals 100% Pinoy Pride

I am taking a break from blogging about books with this post. I am sharing this link , because this is one way I can help to spread this wonderful blog post. I want everyone to understand and educated, because Ms. Patti have put all the words I wanted to say to those people who doesn't know, who are ignorant. So please if you have doubt about the Philippine Men's Football team please click here , and hopefully we helped you understand.

Divergent

Merriam Webster defines Divergent as... 1 a : divergiing from each other <divergent paths> b : differing from each other or from a standard divergent interests of capital and labor> 2 : relating to or being an infinite sequence that does not have a limit or an infinite series whose partial sums do not have a limit 3 : causing divergence of rays divergent lens> — di·ver·gent·ly adverb - ok the second one, I don't really have an idea what it means. But the first one makes sense when you read this latest book by Veronica Roth. My cousin lend me this book when I ranted in twitter that I need a book t read just so to keep me sane. (Low times, I need a book to think or be diverted). My first reaction to this is its like Hunger games. I tried reading Hunger games, I know a lot find it really nice, in fact Hunger Games is already a movie so I suppose it's a bestseller right? but I didn't finish it because well I didn't like it. (sorry fans). For starters I am

Fully Booked

"There is nothing more heavenly than a bookstore on sale" those were the phrase I tweeted when I didn't expect that the bookstore is on sale. I was merely looking for something to read, because I devoured all the pending books I have. Needless to say I had a panic buying situation when I was in the bookstore, and though paycheck is still not in I relayed on the little plastic that I have, (will remember to add that on my monthly dues). Unlike retail therapy or impulsive buying I didn't feel guilty afterwards, I was happy and can't wait to read them all. My only dilemma now is what to read first. All of them are in my book list that I can't wait to read. Two of the books not pictured is "A Kiss in Time" by Alex Finn and "Throne of Fire" by Rick Riordan, that I finished already and are in the list of borrowed books.

Angelic March to Chocolatey April

Angelic isn't the best way to describe "Angel's Game", well if you're thinking of the cliched Angels. Ever since my cousin let me read "Shadows of the Wind" I became a fan of Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I love his story telling style, how he creates a dark aura on the novel yet very descriptive that will let you travel in second world war Spain. For Angel's Game we encounter characters and places that we previously read in "Shadows of the Wind". What I like about it is, it is not the book we see on the stands today that there is a pre-requisite book that we need to read to be able to understand the nex t one. The books are not series books but a spin off from each other but is treated differently and individually so you don't have to read the other to be able to understand the other one. I would like to recommend the book for the rich vocabularies inside it and the history we somehow learn in school. Although it is a bit dragging at the sta

Book Marked

This past week I started reading again, I almost forgot how satisfied and happy I feel everytime I finishes a book. Lately I'm always assessing myself, What i really like to do? What I should do? What I need to do? and always I find myself thinking "reading" but I still try and pursue other hobbies and recreation or other things I wanted to do. So realizing I needed some catching up to do and in line with the book sales in the mall I devoured three books and I find myself in cloud nine. If shopping is a therapy for others, I say my therapy is reading, I forget all the things I should worry about and instead I create my own world (sometimes imagining myself in the book, ok, often times)where everything and I think needs is there. I am writing this because I realize that we should hold on to something that keeps us sane and makes us happy, sometime we see ourselves in situation where we became selfless and give up the things that makes us happy, but what if that some thing

5 Book Care Tips

1. The spine of a new hardcover book can be stiff and might crack if it is forced open. To condition the spine, remove the dust cover and stand the book vertically on a hard surface with the spine down (image right). Holding the pages upright, let the covers fall open. Then release the pages in 1/4-inch batches on alternating sides, pressing the pages gently as they fall (image 4). Continue until you get to the center of the book. Never force a book to open — if it doesn't open all the way, cradle the spine at an angle. 2. Always store books upright or flat, keeping similarly sized books together. Never lean them at an angle or vertically on their spine or pages. Don't pack books too tightly on the shelves or they may crack or become scratched if they are pulled out too roughly. To properly remove a book from the shelf, push in the two books next to it and grasp the book by either edge of the spine. Don't pull it from the top of the spine. 3. Don't store books too c

January and February books

The two weeks vacation and a three days stay in the hospital made me catch up with my reading. I was so busy during the Holidays, that I didn't have time to even open these books from their plastics. I gladly started reading them, I only wished I read size 12 isn't fat first, though being size 14 is something I can relate to. And the insights of Heather Wells are sometimes my insight to. I kinda like the relationship between her landlord, being friends and feeling something for him but he is the brother of your Ex, so something tells you 'He is off limits' is he? I like CSI, Bones and the like so being the crime solving story really interest me. But when I first saw this on the shelf, I thought it is a chic lit, romance kind of thing, didn't thought it was a mystery type of novel. In the middle of the story I dragged myself to finish it because the story got slow for me. I started reading James Patterson's not action novel books when I read the back cover of &q

Book Feeling

Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother

I'd love to read this book, so hopefully I can find one here in the Philippines. Surely I will be laughing in situations that is familiar to me, having been raised in a strict household as well. They would not call my Mom Tiger Lorns for nothing.

Top 5 Misconception About Writing

The article is from one of my favorite author Rick Riordan, and to those wanting to be a writer this is a reality check for us all. I think it is inspiring and helps you smooth out any reasons you have to be a writer. http://rickriordan.blogspot.com/2011/01/top-five-misconceptions-about-writing.html

Bored = Corned Beef Sandwich

I'm officially bored. I have updated every sites that I have, I have been posting to this blog almost everyday and I could not think of anything else to do while I am resting from my operation. I think today I have regained my appetite after several days of soft diet, and by appetite I mean BIG, so tonight just like my normal night I am looking for something to eat. A pre-midnight snack, so now you know why I had gallstones at 28.Since this morning, I have been craving for Jollibee, because there is a new branch that opened today which is just 5 minutes walk from our house, but sadly, I can not push myself to go outside and walk, and what's the point of having it delivered if you want to see the opening of a new food chain branch? But then our pantry is empty, I do our groceries but since I was not fit for it in the last 7 days, I could not find something. So I went to Jollibee delivery website and selected the food I wanted to be delivered. And then I thought, they will ring

I want to see you

The day I saw the LIGHT

I never thought I'd see this light After several back pain, stomach pain, trip to the toilet and trip to the doctors, I finally found out that I have gallstones. First of, how do you get stones in your gallbladder? doctors said they have 3 F's for this, female, fat and forty, so two checks for me but it'll be over 10 years before I'll be 40. And when that time comes, I'll be using Olay. LOL. Okay back to getting gallstones, if you eat too much salty and fatty food and of course hereditary. So yes, my Dad had an operation because of gallstones as well as my uncle, aunt and a cousin whose stones were detected earlier so he doesn't need to go through an operation. Plus I have my own guilty feeling about fatty food. As the day gets nearer to my schedule of operation, I pray that I will not feel a thing once I am in the operating room, because the thought of going in to the operating room, pulls my blood pressure to the line, all the more the sight of it. True enough

ARTS -ING

Everyday when I sat in front of my computer I have the view of my not so tidy bookshelf (it's the hardest part of the house to be kept clean-just to defend myself). I have the classics, chic lits, teens novel, from Steve Berry to Dan Brown, Ludlum to Clancy, I didn't realized it that these books are all fictions not until I bought ... Art History for the Dummies. You might be laughing but this is the most educational book I ever purchased well, next to Hamilton's Mythology which I bought because I need it not because I wanted to. The dummy book made me look back Art Appreciation subject back when I was still in College and happy to know I still remember some of it. The book made me appreciate more the styles and artist that invented the styles and buildings that we know today. I must admit I felt smarter knowing this things too. LOL. Now I must leave the cyber world first and will be taken back in time with Leonardo, Rafael, Donatello and Michaelangelo, not the turtles.

Sissey

When your sibling is one and only, you've got no choice but to get along well, thank heavens they gave me no choice, because I don't mind having one and only sister as long as it's my Ate Min. It'll be another couple of years before I see her. Taken back in 2002 the first time she visited Philippines after 5 years in UK 8 years later, Same room, same time (we just woke up) Still as close, but bigger. LOL!

Ophiuchus - the New Zodiac

Ophiuchus. We woke up today confused with this new word, and even more confuse when you saw that your horoscope has changed, I don't blame you, I firmly believed that I'm a Capricorn all the way, and my Mom is a real Sagittarius, but now is real different because Mom is affected in this new addition.
