Spy-cier Chuck

OK, I know, it should be books here but hey, it wouldn't hurt to share what I love to watch as well would it? Since season 1 I have been an avid fan of Chuck and I just finished watching season 2 and I can't wait for the next season. I am one of those people who posted to walls, commented on youtube and twitted for it to get another season. I like it's comedy approach of the spy series. It is not the conventional Bond, spy movies, not that I didn't enjoy the MI6 episode in season 2. Kudos to the creator, thinking of the characters, how they will blend to each other and even the supporting characters contribute to the whole series and to our main protagonists. Moreover I love the story for season 3 that Chuck is no longer the loser we know and that he gets more action this time. Loved it. I know it's in January for US premiere and I'll be waiting patiently here in the Philippines. More episodes for Chuck please... a little preview to all chuck fans. Click h

My not so dead series

I started reading the series through a co-worker who can't seem to put the book down because of her common traits with the heroine. They both love shoes, and because she sensed that I love books and i love a good laugh she recommended me the Undead series by Mary Janice Davidso n and next thing I know I am collecting the books myself. This is my first Vampire series book. Since I knew that my guilty pleasure is reading books and could not resist exiting a bookstore without a book on hand I made a book list which keeps getting longer, so one of things listed there are books number 7 and 8 of the Undead series. I recently bought book # 7 Undead and Unworthy which has a new cover (if you are reading the US cover)and I'm really glad MJ Davidson wrote a disclaimer to its readers. I noticed that the book became more adult, more cursing from the characters and more gory than the previous books. Another more are names of designer shoes who are very much in season (very good update for

See No Sunlight book

I saw the book as part of a bookstore billboard in a mall near my office and it says Team Vampire (then the cover of New Moon) vs Team Angel ( and the breathtaking cover of Hush, Hush). Aren't we all intrigued by this book's cover. Clearly the saying "Don't judge this book by its cover" does not apply to this one because when you see its cover it will make you grab the copy and buy the book. I bought the book at around 8pm of Saturday night and devoured the book until 4 in the morning of Sunday, it wasn't my intention not to let him see sunrise, I just could not put it down. Amidst all the vampire craze (not that I'm not a fan) I was secretly looking for something new but have similar concept, young adult's novel, mythical character, mysterious kind of guy, which I gladly found in the book. It was nice to know a little something about angels, their rank and their somewhat political views as well. I like the twist of the story and how they are connected

How Christmas is to me

Everyone who knows would easily answer that my favorite season is Christmas. And if you're here in the Philippines Christmas season starts in October ends at first Sunday of January marking the Three Kings. Within these time, malls and other establishments play famous Christmas carols while people are starting their Christmas shopping. For me, every year designing our Christmas tree and decorating our house is a challenge, a challenge I gladly do and looks forward every year. I started with Red and gold Christmas balls, then my orange and gold balls with orange poinsettia on the garland adoring our stairs baluster. This year we opted for home made Christmas balls made of of styro balls, black tule cloth, black and silver sequins. Very timely because of the economy we recycled some of our old decors and still made our house filled with the spirit of Christmas. But of course it's not just the decors why I love the season. Once the season is in the air, it seems everybody is happy

My Booklist 2

Last July, I posted my book list as a result of being in a 3 days off sick. So I am reviewing it right now, I am happy I have bought some of it, but again the list is still long. LOL! I bought Haruki Murakami’s After Dark with Kafka on the Shore for a cheap price in our office Bazaar. I just bought Mary Janice Davidson’s Undead and Unworthy, first in paperback since the hardbound copy was not released here in the Philippines, it’s actually an advance gift from my BF and I read the book all evening it didn’t even see sunshine same with Hush, hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.. I have pending book on my shelf, will soon be reading it, probably tomorrow since it is weekend, I started few pages of “The Thirteenth Tale” by Diane Setterfield purchased through ( www.booksoverbros.multiply.com ) I have Library of Shadows by Mikkel Birkegaard waiting for me. So while I write this blog entry I am writing additional titles on my booklist. The girl with the Dragon Tattoo Fallen by

Ang Brownies Bow

My Grandma passed away about 12 hours ago, and though it has been a while since I last saw her, (she live in the Us and I'm here in the Phils) I love her so much and she will be greatly missed. Who wouldn't? when we were kids she used to have a weekly session with us, activities which includes, cutting our toe nails and finger nails, and cleaning our ears. Yes it is a grooming session that we fondly awaits because it was like general cleaning for us a nd a little bonding time with her. I can still remember how we gather around her while we wait for our turn. She was our Christmas spirit every Christmas season, she gets us all excited for Christmas, she would let us be involve in any preparation needed. I can still picture her making her signatured chocolate drink from a "Tableria". There are lots of memories of my Lola, lots of lessons learned from her, but there is one story I always remember. When I had my 18th birthday, it was the first time she visited Philippine

My Week That Was

After spending three days to sleep off a flu and thought was ready to go back to work last Thursday, Typhoon Isang thought of flooding our streets and yes, our house. That day some drainage system were being fixed plus it was high tide, so water ways are not as functional as they are before, resulting to floods up to the knees on the streets and ankle high in our sala. I managed to put all wiring up tie them together just in the nick of time. But some old memories were wet and my mom laid them on the floor upstairs to dry them up. These are class pictures from my grade school and high school years, some Bicol vacations and Black and white photos of my grandparents. One week has passed all is well, and hopefully it will not happen again.

My Book List

As you all know, weather here in PI (Philippines) is getting weirder and weirder, a minute ago it was sunny then another minute passed it's raining because of this, my healthy looking body caught a flu and resulted to a three-day-I have no choice but to be on Sick Leave days. Not that I'm complaining, sometimes it feels nice t take a legal SL and not some make-up sickness just to get off work. Anyway so while I'm resting and reading I thought of my booklist and realized that it's getting longer and I was buying books that were not on the list. So I reviewed them and maybe you can tell me something about it. Undead and Unworthy Undead and Unwelcome - Mary Janice Davidson Shopaholic Series (I'm looking for the original cover and not the movie cover) Remember Me Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella Masquerade - Melissa De la Cruz The Enchantress Of Florence - The Bride Will Keep Her Name - Jan Goldstein After Dark - Haruki Murakami Save Karyn Swapping Lives - Jane Green The

T for Transformers

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/transformers39-worstreviewed-400-million-hit-ap Because of this site that I felt of writing how good the movie is. I watched Transformers the first time on its first weekend, breaking my notion to watch movies on its first weekend because of the packed theater that I dislike, but because I like the first movie I bent this and watched ROTF (Revenge of the Fallen) twice. I couldn't believe it has bad reviews really. I have shares of credible study to critique a movie and I felt that ROTF is deserving of a two thumbs uo from audiences and the critics. First I like the special effects, again how these robots transform to their wheeled alter ego, the sound effect matched perfectly with the movie and its theme. I would to commend Shia Lebeouf for good acting which I though that he was so natural doing Sam Witwicky. Megan Fox's lips is so distracting and her character was not very evident on the film, one thing I noticed on these sequel but

Ladies and Gentlemen, my witness Mayon Volcano

I was inspired to write a blog by the "Ako Mismo" TV ad, it says but I'm not sure who "Ako mismo, ay hindi mgbblog na nkakasama sa aking bansa" so here I am blogging about one of the natural wonders of nature and Albay's pride Mayon Volcano. While others got excited to see the Mayon and asked me to go to Bicol to experience its beauty, I grew up neglecting its beauty, sure when it was the first time you'll get amazed and take loads of picture with it with you "kuhang pang turista" wherein the background is more focus than you in the picture. As I've said I grew up not knowing how lucky I am to see the Mayon and experience its beauty. I spent my summers in Bicol together with my cousins we live in our Lola's house in a small town in Daraga, Albay. First it was just 5 days vacation just in time for Santacruzan where we participate every year, then one week or two weeks, and even the whole summer in my Lola's house. Once we stepped out

How I spent the Memorial Day

This has been in my drafts for two weeks now. Last Memorial Day while everybody is on vacation because of the long weekend, we were in not so far away Mall. We're in to these very affordable and functional stuffs which the Japanese invented so we went to the largest Japan Home Store in Galleria loacted in their East wing. SAIZEN. These are the things I bought that day, well not of all them are from Saizen, but I told myself since I'm in the mall with someone who is equally a book fan, we went to Bestseller, National Bookstore's version of Fully Booked and Powerbooks. So I bought James Patterson's Sundays at Tiffany's which is now crossed out on my list of books to buy ( but more adding to it). One thing missing though is the bookmark I bought in Powerbooks when we hopped to Alabang Town Center to meet our friends there who is enjoying the extra day off we have from our nocturnal job, the bookmark is inside the book because as soon as I arrived my house I slipped it

The News that shocked me

Yesterday while walking in Galleria where Ate Jan and I pass by news stand I saw this picture in the newspaper that a ferry sank but I don't know where. I could still remember what I told Ate Jan. "May lumubog na naman?" Ate Jan replied yes and that someone from her Plurk buddies' friend died because they were one family who rode the ferry. I even said to her that Family should not be boarding same plane or boat because they say you're prone to accidents. Little did I know that somebody who was once made my day happy and chismax filled is there as well. It came as a shock knowing the news on my friend's twitter. Though it has been a short time knowing Nina, it was a fun filled shared months with her and her best friend Joie. We'll be praying for you Nina.

Home is where the Heart is

You can take the Pinoy out of the Philippines but, you can't take the Philippines out of the Pinoy. In the case, food... - Nicanor David Jr. from "Kwentong Tambay", 2006 Ah this one is true, I've heard of it. I came from a family who works abroad, halos lahat sila, actually konti na nga lang kami dito sa Pilipinas e. Anyway, back sa topic. My sister lives in UK been there for quite some time and she went here in the Philippines after 5 years and the first thing she asked me to do is Dial 8-7000 (singing: Jollibee Delivery). My Dad is in USA for, well, a very long time now and once in a awhile if there is a family friend visiting Philippines we will ask them to bring my dad several frozen tapa from the famous Maty's in Prañaque which is in a microwavable container. Filipinos can endure the work and long hours abroad but they can't really resist not to look for Filipino food. I remembered my cousin who's in Singapore she was telling us how she craved for ric

The Sampaguita Lesson

I don't know how to start this blog without shedding a tear, yes you read that right, a tear, I'm not the usual emotional, cry-ish person who can be touched easily, I remember one time i laughed hard when my sister went home from her hospital shift crying because her patients gave her gifts to show their appreciation to her at how caring she is. (Crying, sniffing, afraid that my Mom will see me) This morning after buying all the stuffs my Mom listed for me to buy in the market, I saw an old lady who can replace Quasimodo as the hunchback with glasses so thick that looks heavy that falls on her nose but can't fix it on place because her hand is full of Sampaguita that she sells. It just hit me right away, as if my heart was touched by an Angel, I turned back my step which was in a hurry to got home and sit in front of my computer. I bought the 5 pcs for 10 php Sampaguita but gave 20 php and told her to keep the change. Gelay: Keep the Change Lola Lola: Ha? Gelay: Sa inyo na

It's Driving Me Crazy

I have prepared several topics to blog, even clean it for pictorial but once i set myself infront of the computer I can't seem to get my eyes and hands off the mouse. It seems there is something that keeps me drawn to it. I started with Pet Society and was hooked to it until now, then, I learned about Yoville and played it 'til morning until I finally understood how the game works and what do I do, then an invite for Farm Town and again, played it until my coins are no more from buying seeds and trees. I just can't seem to get enough of the Facebook applications and I can't do anything anymore. I can't read email, sometime, I even forget to log in to my YM account which I normally do first when I sit in front of the PC. But now I realize, I better manage my time and include the few hours at home excluding the sleeping time and my phone hellos to my BF. I feel pressured most of the times when I see that a buddy is getting close to my score and I get inspired to do my

Holy Bummin' Week

While others are out of town relaxing in a rest house somewhere, or swimming mostly in the south, I spent my holy week mostly at work and home alone in our house. My Mom went to Bicol and spent the Holy Week there while also preparing for the 80th Birthday of my Lola on June. From Monday to Thursday here was my schedule, water the plants before I even put my bag down, feed the cat, mop the floor, wash the dishes, play with my 9 months old niece and go to sleep until 8pm. At 8pm, prepare my baon for work, browse net and check facebook, then take a bath and go to work and same thing again the next day, pretty boring huh? but Friday to Sunday was different. I avail of our VTO (Volountary Timed Out) well the whole Friday I slept like I will not sleep again, play LAN games in the computer until 4am and I was too lazy to prepare something for breakfast because by this time I was really hungry since i slept the whole day, so what else should I do but dial the ever reliable Dial 8-MCDO.

My Pot of Gold

At the End of the Rainbow there's a pot of Gold, and I've found mine after years of hunting and waiting. I know a lot of bloggers have blogged about this, how heavenly they tasted and how they crave for more, but I just want to share the reason why I bought the ice cream and why I am blogging about this… When I was a kid, since my Dad likes English movies, I was exposed to Hollywood movies, I would cover my eyes if there’s a kissing scene or learn a few English bad words but I can not forget how they depict that ice cream is a good comfort food which I learned when I grew a little older that it was a great comfort food, but since I was a kid I would wish that I can eat ice cream the way Hollywood stars eat their ice cream in the movies. From the dark covered pint cup, with their silver spoon digging to the creamy and tasty ice cream that waters in their mouth that would always make their eyes close savoring the flavor. I don’t know with others but we eat our ice cream in

Book Shopping

It has been months since I crossed out books that I’d like to buy from the short list I have in my hard earned Starbucks Planner (grin). I have been eyeing this book since January but was waiting for the bookstore to have new stock since the book’s cover was not as new as I would expect it to be, well new for the regular price of 339 php. Thanks to my cousin Nica who put up a small business of selling second hand book via Multiply ( http://booksoverbros.multiply.com ) that I was able to buy the book I have been eyeing for 160php, which is still in good condition and the bonus is, it wasn’t the paperback issue I saw in the bookstore but the first published copy which originally cost 660 php if I bought it in the bookstore. It was great having her put up this business, books became arms reached for me plus it wasn’t just books, but titles some of us are eyeing or collecting so I was really thrilled when I saw her business multiply page and recommended it to my workplace seatmate since

He Can't face the Music

An English phrase was born through a Chinese story, you might be wondering how is that? So the story goes… Once there was an Emperor who loves music, he so loved it he organized a Royal Orchestra. The flutist of the Royal orchestra doesn’t really know how to play the flute, he just blows the instrument but no music was coming out of the flute, but he the benefits for being in the Royal orchestra, lodging, first class treatment and food fit for a King. One Day the King asked each musician to play for him, the Flutist said he was sick at the night of the performance, so the King send his Royal Physician to check the flutist, and the Physician reported that the Flutist was not sick. When the King ordered for the Flutist to be captured, the Physician told the Royal Guards… "The Impostor Can’t Face The Music" I chose to write about this because even the story is old, it is still applicable in the modern world. There are impostors, pretenders whatever we call them, but when confron

Counting to Breaking Dawn

From my Archives Posted by me last Aug 4, '08 7:55 AM For People who has been talking to me these past few days, they know my object of obssession, the final book of the Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn" and at long last, my wait is over, from the time NIca introduced it to me, borrowed from her the second book, and finally bought the third book, not wanting to wait for others to finish the book so I can read it and then now my wait is over since I held the next book in my arms. I was anxious for the book, getting so excited by rereading the three books, appearing them in my dreams (Sorry, Nica, may ala Bella syndrome ata sya, para mapanaginipan) and hardly going to sleep just thinking of it. Hahaha, I was so excited that I was the first in line when the bookstore opened, well, second, because the first one is a ten year old girl from St. Paul. Once I got the copy, i opened the package and scan the pages of the book, sniff the smell of the paper and run my fingers on th

Pet Society

Here's the latest game I'm playing, for my age you might think this is one of those, network games that usually boys go crazy about in the net cafe, but no, its one of my facebook application and from what I heard, is the latest craze in the cyberworld. Pet Society, is a simulation game that expresses yourself through the pet you created. You can visit friends, give them gift, buy clothes. design your house even take a bath and mingle in the cafe. Just add it in your facebook application create your pet and if you have lots of friends who have pet society as well, you'll surely enjoy this game. Above is a screenshot of my pet Bolt, visiting friends in her pet society neighborhood.

The Grapevine

I am thinking of something to write that will immediately catch your attention, however because I'm thinking of it, I can't think of any, the irony, so I just thought of explaining the grapevine. As we all know is where grapes grow and where wines are being brewed if that's the word for it. But for the chikadoras grapevine simply means the sources or the buzz of many, thus the expression "from the grapevine". So when somebody asked you where did you get that news you can tell them "from the grapevine"
